Macarthur FC haven’t wasted any time bolstering their ranks for the next A-League season.
This week the Bulls have announced they have signed New Zealand international Clayton Lewis for the next two seasons.
A composed mover of the ball and deadly from set pieces, the arrival of the 26-year-old has been praised by Bulls head coach Mile Sterjovski as a “valuable signing’’.
Sterjovski said he was delighted to have secured the All Whites midfielder until June 2025.
“Clayton is an international who brings in quality and experience,’’ the Bulls coach said.
“He has good passing range and can give us great deliveries with set pieces,’’ Sterjovski said.
“With a good preseason ahead, I can see him being a valuable member of the squad.’’
Lewis will arrive in South Western Sydney ahead of the start of the 2023-24 Isuzu UTE A-League season after spending the last three years with Wellington Phoenix where he established himself as a regular starter in the first team.
Previously, Lewis had spells with English club Scunthorpe United in League One as well as Auckland City where he won eight trophies, including two Oceania Champions League titles.
Lewis will add significant international experience to the Bulls ranks – especially in the midfield – having made 23 appearances for New Zealand.
In other Bulls news, defender Ivan Vujica was named player of the year and received the Macarthur Medal at the club’s end of season presentation last week.
