Both local sides competing in the National Premier Leagues NSW women’s premiership were beaten on the weekend.

Reigning premiers Macarthur Rams lost 3-0 to University of NSW, while the Macarthur Bulls FC Academy were pipped 2-1 by the Northern Tigers.

UNSW delivered a statement win in front of their home fans in its comprehensive win over the Rams at the Village Green, pictured.

UNSW entered this fixture knowing they needed to be at their best to hold off a Rams side that hit some form after notching their first win of the season a week earlier.

For Macarthur the match was an opportunity to push up the ladder.

However, UNSW looked determined from the get-go, opening the scoring 24 minutes into the first stanza.

They doubled their advantage with a second goal on the stroke of half time, off a rebound following a save from Rams goalkeeper Issabella Coelho.

Just seven minutes into the second it all over red rover for the Rams when the home side made it 3-0 with a sublime strike from distance that sailed into the top right corner.

On the other side of the harbour, the Northern Tigers were able to hold onto a 2-1 lead over Bulls FC Academy in an entertaining clash at the North Turramurra Recreational Area on Saturday evening.

The Bulls, who only a single point earned in their opening three matches, were intent on turning things round in the match.

But was the Tigers who got on the scoreboard first, with a goal off a rebound 25 minutes into the first half.

They doubled their lead 18 minutes out from full time, but just 10 minutes later Bulls substitute Ashlee Brodigan scored with a brilliant half-volley to get her side back in the game.

But the Tigers hung on to bag all three points.
