Macarthur content creators Brick Studios are gearing up to complete their second film this year.

The Blind Sea is a feature documentary on the life story of three times world champion blind surfer and Paralympic cyclist Matt Formston.

At the age of five Matt lost 95 percent of his vision.

Determined to lead a fulfilling life, his parents gave him the tools to take back control of his life.

Matt did more than that, becoming a highly successful corporate executive, Paralympian, world champion, world record holder and World Cup gold medallist in tandem cycling, three times world champion surfer, husband and father to three.

Exploring the themes of perseverance, determination, the high-performance mindset, community, diversity, inclusion and overcoming adversity, The Blind Sea is a celebration of the human spirit; a family friendly film that will resonate with audiences all over the globe.

Directed by Campbelltown’s own Daniel Fenech of Brick Studios, the feature length documentary is being produced by Erin Fenech, Heath Davis and Nicola Nossal, with cinematography by Chris Bland.

The film commenced shooting in 2021 in Australia, Fiji and Indonesia and is due to be released next year.

The Blind Sea is being produced by Brick Studios Pty Ltd and supported and sponsored by Optus, Orix Australia, Workday and the Australian Cultural Fund.

The second film Brick Studios are working on is Christmess, which is now in post production.

  • In breaking news, Matt Formston is set to take on Nazare, Portugal, notorious for monstrous waves and considered by many as the ultimate proving ground for big wave surfers. After winning the inaugural Association of Adaptive Surfing Professionals world tour in September, Formston received a phone call that could change his destiny and have his name written in the history books; big wave legend Dylan Longbottom and crew will take Matt to Nazare Portugal, where he will attempt to charge the biggest wave ever ridden by a blind surfer.
