A topping out ceremony has been held to mark the next significant milestone in the delivery of Edmondson Park High School.

State MP and government minister Anoulack Chanthivong joined federal MP Anne Stanley at last week’s ceremony (pictured above).

Progress is well under way on the new school – one of two new high schools – with the building’s structural phase now complete.

Edmondson Park High School will accommodate up to 800 students and include fit-for-purpose classrooms and core facilities to meet enrolment demand and support the growing population in South West Sydney.

The new high school, located adjacent to Edmondson Park Public School on Buchan Avenue, will include 37 modern classrooms, three support learning classrooms, and a range of world class education facilities including science, technology, performing arts, and fitness hubs, a library, canteen, sports field and multi-sports courts and lecture theatre.

The project is on track for completion by the first day of term 1 in 2027.

“I am delighted to mark this significant milestone in the delivery of a new high school for Edmondson Park, and I know local families are eagerly awaiting project completion,’’ Mr Chanthivong said.

“The Minns Labor Government is committed to investing in quality public schooling and meeting the increasing demand in our growing suburbs.

“Like many local families, I’m keenly watching progress of this vital project and can’t wait to see the positive impact it will have on our community.

“The new school will mean more opportunities for local students, reduced travel time and access to modern facilities. I look forward to the first intake of students in 2027,” he said.

Ms Stanley said the ceremony was a pivotal moment for the local community.

“Local families and young students have been keenly waiting for a new high school in Edmondson Park to meet demand,’’ she said.

“I would like to thank the Minns Labor Government for delivering this essential infrastructure for our growing community, and look forward to the school’s progress and completion.”

Other major education projects being delivered in the great South West include upgrades at Austral Public School and Dalmeny Public School.

New sports facilities and school hall are being delivered at Eagle Vale High School as part of its sports stream.

Emerald Hills is getting a new primary school and preschool, while at Greenway Park Public School demountables are being replaced with permanent classrooms and a new public preschool.

At Leppington Public School its current upgrade includes new permanent classrooms, a new hall, and covered outdoor learning area as well as a new public preschool.
