More than $1 million in Black Spot Program funding will help make two South West Sydney intersections and a roundabout safer for motorists.
At Box Road and Pine Road, Casula $170,000 has been allocated to install a raised threshold, roundabout deflection improvements and kerb ramps.
At Feodore Drive between Sandringham Drive and Spencer Road, Cecil Hills the work will include raised threshold, raised median, pedestrian fence on kerb, and a pedestrian crossing. The project will cost $440,000.
The final improvements will be at Sadleir Avenue, Tumbarumba Crescent and Celebration Road, Heckenberg – raised threshold, rigid barrier, pedestrian crossing, raised island with stop, blister barrier linemarking, and upgrade the intersection from give-way to stop. Cost of this project is estimated at $424,950.
Federal member for Werriwa Anne Stanley has welcomed Black Spot Program funding for these projects in her electorate.
“I am pleased that more funding has been provided by the Albanese Government to improve roads in Werriwa that need significant safety measures implemented,” Ms Stanley said.
“Residents of Werriwa are familiar with dangerous roads in the area, and I encourage anyone to nominate these roads for consideration in the next lot of funding.
“I am looking forward to Liverpool City Council in utilising these funds and getting the job done.”
This funding for Werriwa follows on from the $2 million in funds obtained in the 2024-25 Black Spot Program, and $6.9 million for substantial upgrades to the Kurrajong Road, Beech Road and Lyn Parade intersection.
