There won’t be any fireworks at this year’s Campbelltown Australia Day party in Koshigaya Park but council promises stacks of fun will be on offer for young and old.

Everyone is invited to enjoy an evening of delicious food, Australiana themed demonstrations, live bands and free carnival rides between 4pm and 9pm this Sunday, January 26.

Every year the Australia Day party provides great fun for the whole family and 2020 won’t be an exception. With a range of entertainment for kids including face painting and hair braiding, bouncing ‘roos, sheep shearing, whip cracking, a large inflatable slide and much more, cobber, Koshigaya Park will be the place to be for a fair dinkum celebration of our great country.

“Australia Day in Campbelltown is always a fantastic family event for our community,” says mayor George Brticevic.

“So come down and settle in for a great evening of fun, food and rides while enjoying the atmosphere of live music in the park,” he said.

But first things first, and just a few hours before the party begins the achievements of special Campbelltown residents will be celebrated at a civic ceremony in the Greg Percival Community Centre at Ingleburn from 9am.

That’s where the mayor will present the Citizen of the Year and other Australia Day Awards.

The awards will be followed by a citizenship ceremony, one of the most popular of the year.

Many new local residents take a lot of pride in becoming Australians on Australia Day, and who could blame them.

They attend the citizenship ceremony accompanied by their families and the big smiles afterwards tell the story.

Mayor Brticevic says residents are also welcome to attend the official ceremonies at Ingleburn.

“Come along and help us celebrate the achievements of some of our outstanding citizens who will be honoured with this year’s Australia Day Awards at the civic ceremony,” he said.

Back to the party at Koshigaya Park, and council says that the annual fireworks display has been cancelled this year due to the bush fire situation.

If you plan to attend, please note that temporary road closures will be in place in the vicinity of Koshigaya Park between 3pm and 10pm.
