Final preparations are under way ahead of tomorrow’s Australia Day celebrations in Camden and Campbelltown.

Both start early in the morning, with Greg Percival community centre in Ingleburn hosting Campbelltown’s Australia Day awards ceremony and citizenship ceremony from 9am.

From 4pm the party will be at Koshigaya Park, with two Wonderdogs shows set to be the highlight. Fireworks at 9pm will conclude the celebrations.

Camden will kick off a little differently at 8.30am, with a Thanksgiving Prayer for Australia, Camden and the Macarthur region led by Camden’s Christian Community inside the civic centre.

Between 9-10am there will be roaming entertainment in the town centre, followed by the traditional Macarthur Lions Australia Day street parade.

Both towns have also revealed their respective Australia Day ambassadors for January 26, 2023.

Entrepreneur and philanthropist Clyde Campbell, founder of the Shake It Up Foundation, will help Campbelltown Mayor George Greiss present the annual Australia Day awards.

Mr Campbell, pictured above right, is a highly accomplished businessman and entrepreneur, having founded his own company, Machinery Automation and Robotics.

Since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2009, his philanthropy and advocacy for Parkinson’s research has helped fund and draw attention to a disease that affects more than 100,000 Australians.

Mr Campbell’s search for the cure has been as much a personal journey as an entrepreneurial one, leading him to launch Shake It Up Australia and partner with the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research to help build awareness locally.

“We are proud and honoured to welcome Clyde Campbell as our Australia Day Ambassador for 2023,” Mayor Greiss said.

“Mr Campbell has dedicated himself to fighting a disease that has impacted people across Australia and in our community,” Cr Greiss said.

“Australia Day is a time to acknowledge those in our community who make a difference in the lives of others so I’m looking forward to hearing more about Mr Campbell’s story during the celebrations,” he said.

As ambassador, Mr Campbell will participate in greeting the community at council’s civic ceremony on Australia Day.

Camden Australia Day ambassador, Jason Sotiris, founder of Supertee, (pictured top) created a medical garment that inspires imagination. It is an updated version of the traditional hospital gown, especially designed for children.
The campaign provides a unique opportunity for individuals, small businesses, and corporations to support families who are navigating the challenges of hospital life with a sick child.
