
A 69 year old man has been charged after an investigation into the alleged assault of an 87 year old man at an aged-care facility in South West Sydney.
Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command commenced an investigation after receiving a report of an assault at the HammondCare aged care facility near Liverpool.
An 87-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for head and facial injuries before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition last Wednesday night.
Following inquiries, about 3pm the next day, police arrested a 69-year-old man at the aged care facility in Hammondville.
He was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (Domestic Violence).
The man was later taken to Liverpool Hospital where he remains under police guard.
The 69-year-old was refused bail to appear via a bedside hearing at Liverpool Local Court last Friday.

A man and a woman have been charged following a pursuit and crash in the Southern Highlands.
Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol attempted to stop a grey Ford Focus allegedly speeding at Mittagong, and reaching speeds of up to 180km/h.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit was terminated soon after due to safety concerns and the vehicle continued south-west on the Hume Highway before taking the Illawarra Highway exit at Sutton Forest.
A short time later, emergency services were called to Argyle Street, Moss Vale, after reports the vehicle had crashed. No injuries were reported.
A 32-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested at the scene and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station where they underwent drug testing, allegedly returning positive results for methamphetamine.
The 32-year-old man was charged with eight offences, and the 37-year-old woman was charged two driving related offences, as well as breach of bail.
Both were refused bail to appear at Local Bail Division – Court 3 last Saturday.
