It’s the time of the year when we start to think about the gifts we will get for our loved ones.
The opening of Campbelltown arts centre’s new retail store, Artist Exchange, provides a new option, especially for anyone looking to buy art work for someone this Christmas.
The new store includes a range of ceramics, jewellery, woven pieces and other items.
“The Campbelltown arts centre is a cultural hub for the region and a place where artists are able to showcase their work,” says Mayor George Brticevic.
“This new shop will further support our local artists by providing another avenue to sell their work, especially during a difficult period when the arts industry has been impacted so heavily by the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
The name for the new gallery shop was chosen in consultation with the community, who voted for Artist Exchange ahead of the other options.
“Thank you to everyone in our community who took part in the competition to help name the new shop,” Cr Brticevic said.
“Artist Exchange was among the most popular names on our shortlist, while there were also some fantastic ideas for alternative names,” he said.
As part of the work for the retail store, the arts centre foyer has now been moved closer to the main entrance and Artist Exchange has taken its old location.
Michael Dagostino, the director of Campbelltown arts centre, says Artist Exchange will be another reason to visit the cultural hub of Campbelltown and Macarthur.
“We are excited to open this new shop to our community which will support our local artists and provide another way to showcase the strength of arts and culture in the Macarthur region,” he said.
“This will further enhance the experience for people visiting the arts centre and I encourage everyone to come and see the new shop,” Mr Dagostino said.
