The two people who died in the plane crash near Appin on Boxing are yet to be identified as investigations continue today.

Their bodies were found by fire fighters who went to the area after reports of a bush fire in the vicinity of Appin Road and Colliery Road around 3pm.

It took an extensive search of the area before the fire crews located the crash spot.

Investigators from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) are now at the scene, along with other authorities.

No further information is available at this stage, but authorities have appealed to the public for any information they may have, including possibly footage of the plane before it crashed.

Appin Road was completely closed to the Princess Highway due to the fire caused by the crash.
