Wests Tigers co-captain Api Koroisau has re-signed with the club until the end of the 2028 season.
A three-time premiership winner and NSW State of Origin representative, Koroisau’s two-year extension reflects the impact he has had on Wests Tigers since arriving ahead of the 2023 season.
The Fijian international was named NRL captain prior to his debut campaign with Wests Tigers and has consistently displayed outstanding leadership qualities, both on and off the field.
“This club has become family to me. I’ve felt nothing but support from the players, staff, and especially Benji – he’s someone I really admire and enjoy playing under,’’ said Koroisau after putting pen to paper.
“I’m stoked to re-sign and can’t wait to help lead this team for a few more years.”
Koroisau has played 227 NRL games, including 57 for the Wests Tigers.
Head coach Benji Marshall was full of praise for Koroisau’s leadership and commitment to the group.
“Api is a great player but more so he is the heart and soul of this team. His leadership, experience and energy are invaluable. Having him commit to our future is massive for the direction we are heading in,’’ Marshall said.
“We are thrilled to have him and his wonderful family here long term.”
Meanwhile, for this Saturday’s round 21 clash with Penrith, Marshall has made just one major change to the side that snuck home against the Titans at Leichhardt Oval.
Izaac Tu’itupou will become Wests Tigers player #302 when he takes the place of winger Charlie Staines, who made at least two mistakes during the 21-20 win.
The match with Panthers will be played at Parramatta and will kick off from 5.30pm.
