South West Sydney Academy of Sport will deliver a new pilot program in 2025 in partnership with local baseball organisation RBI Australia.
While the program will be a new venture for the academy, baseball athletes are no strangers to its high-performance support and education programs.
Several baseball athletes are or have been previously involved within the academy’s Future Stars program.
One such athlete, Adam Bates, was named the NSW Regional Academies of Sport athlete of the year in 2024.
The partnership was also informed by the decision of Olympic Games organisers to include both baseball and softball in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
On top of that, South West Sydney Academy of Sport was recently recognised as an official training centre of the Australian Olympic Committee.
Macarthur Credit Union has also boosted its existing partnership with the academy by taking on the naming rights partnerships of not just the new baseball program, but also aligning with the softball program.
The next step in ensuring the pilot program’s success is consultation with the region’s local baseball association, clubs and state sporting organisation.
Expressions of interest for the 2025 baseball pilot program are now open.
Trials are scheduled to take place during March 2025 for male and female baseball athletes who turn 13-16 years of age in 2025.
Interested baseball coaching and support staff are also encouraged to express their interest in being a part of the pilot program, which will offer a highly comprehensive coach development program.
Further information and expression of interest forms are available on the academy’s website, or by clicking om this link: https://www.swsas.org.au/sports-programs—baseball-program.html
