A new community running event in Macarthur later this month is set to bring together runners, walkers, families and fitness enthusiasts for a day of activity and fun – and keen volunteers.
Run Camden will be held on Sunday, July 19 at Camden Showground.
The event offers something for participants of all ages and abilities, including a half marathon, 10-kilometre run, five-kilometre run and two kilometre fun run.
The event will also showcase some of Camden’s most scenic locations and provides a great opportunity for residents and visitors alike to challenge themselves, stay active and enjoy the outdoors while connecting with the community.
Hosted by Elite Energy Events, Run Camden will be sponsored by Camden Council.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said Council was pleased to support an event that encourages healthy lifestyles and community participation.
“Run Camden is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages and fitness levels to get involved, challenge themselves and experience the best of what our community has to offer,” she said.
“As a proud sponsor of the event, Council is excited to welcome participants from across Camden and surrounding areas for what promises to be a great day of fitness, fun and community spirit.”
In addition to participating in the event, residents are encouraged to consider volunteering on the day.
A variety of volunteer roles are available, including athlete registration, course-marshalling and assisting with post-race refreshments.
Volunteers can register individually or as part of a family, sports club, charity or school group, making it a great way to support the community while being part of a major local event.
Residents are reminded that even though Camden Town Farm is in use, it is still open to those not competing in the event.
