Liverpool Women’s Shelter has announced a landmark partnership with Moorebank Sports Club worth $250,000 over five years.

The commitment represents far more than financial support – it is a powerful investment in safety, hope and transformation for women and children escaping domestic and family violence, says the Liverpool Women’s Shelter in a media statement.

“The partnership marks a significant milestone for Liverpool Women’s Shelter as we work to create safe, stable spaces where women and children can rest, recover and rebuild their lives with dignity and support.

“Every day, women and children across Australia are forced to flee unsafe homes, often with nowhere to turn. The establishment of Liverpool Women’s Shelter will provide a vital refuge where women and children can access care, connection and community while rebuilding their futures.’’

As a result of the agreement, Moorebank Sports Club becomes the shelter’s foundation partner.

Jeff Gibbs, the chief executive officer of Moorebank Sports Club, says the partnership reflects the club’s deep commitment to supporting the local community and taking meaningful action where it matters most.

“Domestic and family violence does not discriminate. It affects our neighbours, our families, our workplaces and our wider community. Behind every statistic is a person, a child, a family trying to find safety, dignity and a chance to begin again,” he said.

“As a community club, we could not stand on the sidelines. We wanted to make a meaningful, long term commitment that would create real impact, and help ensure women and children in our local area know they are not alone.”

As foundation partner, Moorebank Sports Club’s five year commitment will help provide critical support services, safe accommodation and pathways toward healing, independence and brighter futures for women and children in crisis.

Liverpool Women’s Shelter chairperson Cheryl Macnaught says the partnership demonstrates the strength of community connection and the impact that can be achieved when organisations come together with a shared purpose.

“We are deeply thankful to Sporties for standing alongside us and demonstrating such a strong commitment to our mission,’’ she said.

“Together, we are helping create a future where women and children are safe, supported and empowered to thrive.”
