Police have discounted a weekend sighting of Ivan Jakus – a Leppington man who was reported missing in mid April.
A renewed appeal for information was released at the weekend after a member of the public reported a man matching his description was seen on Elizabeth Drive at Cecil Hills about 11.30am last Saturday (May 2).
Following inquiries, police have confirmed with the family that that man was not Ivan.
Liverpool City Police have now renewed their appeal for public assistance to locate 75-year-old Ivan Jakus (also known as John), who was last seen at a club on Cowpasture Road, Leppington, about 5.30pm on Sunday, April 12.
When he failed to return to his aged-care facility at Casula, police commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.
Police and family have serious concerns for Ivan’s welfare as he lives with dementia and requires regular medication.
Ivan was also seen leaving Leppington Railway Station about 7.30pm on April 12, as well as outside a home on Ramsay Road, Rossmore, about 10pm that day.
A coordinated search – involving Police Rescue, SES, RFS and other resources – was conducted in the Rossmore area; however, Ivan has not been located.
Ivan is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 165cm, of medium build, with short grey hair.
When last seen he was wearing a white Adidas t-shirt, dark navy shorts, white socks and dark-coloured shoes.
Police have been told Ivan is physically highly mobile and is known to walk extensively around the Leppington area.
