As far as Chris Ikonomidis is concerned the best part about the Bulls game tonight is that it’s at home.
Macarthur FC host competition leaders Newcastle Jets at Campbelltown Stadium with a 7.35pm kick off.
“That’s definitely our favourite place to play, our home ground, our fortress,’’ Ikonomidis said during a media conference yesterday morning.
The speedy forward also revealed that the team’s one and only focus was on making the finals.
“If we can make that top six, we all believe in ourselves to go all the way,’’ he said.
After a brilliant start to the season, the Bulls fell away for two months, but got back on track with a gutsy 2-1 win in New Zealand over Auckland last round.
“The take away from that was that if we stick to our game plan and everyone knows their role, we can beat anyone,’’ Ikonomidis said.
Let’s hope he’s right because beating the competition runway leaders Newcastle will not be easy.
The game against Newcastle is one of four left in the season, and the Bulls will need to win at least three of them to play finals football this season.
They currently sit sixth on the ladder, but with just the one point buffer between them and the teams coming equal seventh.
And as if that’s not enough, this game tonight will have some spice, at least in the coaching ranks.
Mark Milligan is in charge of the Newcastle Jets, and obviously doing very well.
But the former Socceroo was set for a coaching career at Macarthur FC after playing a season for them.
But things went sour, and the two parties went their separate ways.
A win for the Bulls will cement their spot in the top six, and maybe even give them hope of a higher finish.
Their last three games are away to Perth Glory followed by Adelaide United, also a road trip.
Macarthur FC finish the season at home on Friday, April 24 when they will host Wellington Phoenix.
