Three teens have appeared in children’s court yesterday to face charges arising from a carjacking and two pursuits.

Officers attached to Camden Police Area Command allege three youths were in a sedan, which had been reported stolen some hours earlier, along Camden Valley Way about midday on Saturday.

When the driver allegedly failed to obey a direction to stop, a pursuit was initiated which then headed towards the Camden CBD.

The pursuit was terminated after the stolen car allegedly struck several vehicles, driving onto the footpath and the wrong side of the road.

It was found a short time later abandoned after hitting a tree near William Avenue, which is near Camden Hospital.

About 12.10pm, police were called to nearby Lerida Avenue, Camden, after a 26-year-old man was approached by three youths who allegedly punched him then dragged him from his BMW sedan.

They allegedly got into his car and drove from the scene.

Police were alerted and, when the vehicle was seen a few minutes later, a pursuit was initiated through Elderslie towards Camden CBD, but was again terminated due to the manner of driving.

About 20 minutes later, Fire and Rescue NSW were called to Onslow Park, Camden, where the stolen vehicle was found alight, with the fire spreading to nearby grassland.

Both were extinguished but the vehicle was destroyed.

With the assistance of the Dog Unit, Traffic and Highway Patrol, and the PolAir crew, officers attached to Camden Police Area Command arrested three youths at the scene, two boys aged 16 and a girl aged 13.

Police took the trio to Narellan Police Station where all three were charged,

A 16-year-old boy has been charged eight offences, including two counts of driving dangerously and not stop during police pursuit.

He was also charged with robbery, breach of bail, and being in possession of a drug.

A second 16-year-old boy and the 13-year-old girl have each been charged with two offences, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and robbery in company.

All three were refused bail to appear in a children’s court yesterday (Sunday, November 16).
