Here’s some great news for bike enthusiasts and thrill seekers in Campbelltown: work has started on a new BMX style bike track, to be located adjacent to the existing – and very popular – St Helens Park youth space skate park along Appin Road.
The bike track will feature a series of elevation changes, berms, jumps and rollers.
And it will be able to cater to all levels: the trail system is a sealed surface tailored to varying levels of skill, starting with a beginner trail and progressing to intermediate and advanced levels.
“The St Helens Park Youth Space is already incredibly popular among young people because of its fantastic skate park, so I’m really excited to see this project enhancing this public space and adding a great new bike track,” said Mayor of Campbelltown Darcy Lound.
“Campbelltown is an attractive place for young families to come and live so it’s important that our public spaces feature a variety of activities for people to enjoy, including skate and bike parks.
“It’s important that young people in the area have places to stay active and hang out with friends,” Mayor Lound said.
Member for Campbelltown and parliamentary secretary for Western Sydney Greg Warren joined Mayor Lound for the official start to work this morning (pictured above).
“Delivering top-notch public spaces is an important part of looking after the many families who call Campbelltown home,” Mr Warren said.
“I am proud to see the NSW Government and Campbelltown City Council coming together to deliver this wonderful project for our community.”
The St Helens Park Youth Space project is funded by the NSW Government through the Western Sydney infrastructure grants program.
It is one of three bike track projects across Campbelltown being delivered as part of the program.
The other two are the Glenfield urban bike park and Kanbyugal Parklands mountain bike park at Woodbine.
The St Helen’s Park project is expected to be complete by early next year.
