Campbelltown residents living with a disability and who have gone above and beyond to achieve personally, or for the community as part of a broader activity or initiative, will have their own award category at the 2026 Australia Day honours.
The awards program has expanded to eight categories with the introduction of the new All Abilities Award.
If you are planning to nominate someone you know in the community who has made a notable contribution, it can now include those in the new category.
Nominations are open for the annual awards, which provide us all the opportunity to celebrate residents – or community groups – who go above and beyond, whether it be through academic success, achievements on the sporting field or other meaningful contributions to Campbelltown.
Mayor of Campbelltown Darcy Lound can’t wait to see who will be nominated for the 2026 Australia Day hnours.
“The Australia Day Awards recognise residents who have gone that extra mile in Campbelltown over the past 12 months,” he says.
“Our residents are known for their community spirit and for giving back, so it’s an honour to celebrate these incredible people who go above and beyond through this fantastic awards program.’’
The following categories will be on offer for the 2026 Australia Day Awards: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Sports Award, Community Group Initiative of the Year, Diversity and Inclusion Award, Environmental Citizen of the Year, and All Abilities Award.
Nominations for the 2026 Australia Day Awards will close on Monday, December 1.
The award recipients will be announced at a civic ceremony at the Greg Percival Community Centre on Monday, January 26, 2026.
