A youth forum will be held in the Campbelltown Civic Centre on August 7. The theme of the Campbelltown City Council forum is Together we thrive. It is open to local young people aged 12 to 24.
Participants will interact with a live panel of youth sector representatives and take part in creative brainstorming sessions.
“In our Youth Plan 2024-2030 and Community Strategic Plan, we committed to supporting young people in Campbelltown with a strong platform and meaningful opportunities to collaborate with Council,” says Mayor Darcy Lound.
“Our youth forums are a chance to strengthen this shared goal, by connecting our young people with industry leaders and experts that can help bring their visions to life, beyond the great work already being done by our youth action team,” Cr Lound said.
“I’m excited to see the fresh ideas our young people bring to this forum, so I encourage everyone get involved in another great year of this fantastic initiative” he said.
The youth plan was co-written and designed with youth representatives who volunteered their time and effort to ensure that young people are supported by council to be mentally, physically and socially connected.
The plan provides the strategic direction to 2030 for the delivery of contemporary youth services, programs, activities and events that meet the needs of a diverse population.
It is a plan for council to work alongside the local youth sector, schools, young people and the community to make the Campbelltown local government area [LGA] an even better place.
Campbelltown is home to almost 30,000 young people, representing about 17 percent of the total population.
As Campbelltown is one of the fastest growing urban areas in Australia, the youth population is set to more than double over the next 10 years.
