The Campbelltown Camden District Cricket Club has a new man at the helm as well as a former NSW premier in its committee.
Shawn Galvin takes over the president’s reins from Michael Shanahan, who has stood down after three years in the club’s most senior position.
Mr Galvin, a former Ghosts player, was a member of last year’s club management committee.
He has a background in business management.
Mr Galvin’s election took place at the recently held Ghosts AGM.
Also elected to the committee at the AGM was former NSW Premier, Morris Iemma, whose daughter plays for the Ghosts.
Mr Iemma is a former trustee of the SCG, experience which will be of great value to the Ghosts in the coming cricket season.
A motion to increase the size of the committee from nine to 13 was also approved on the night.
Todd O’Keefe, who has played with all five Ghosts grades, will continue as vice president for the fourth year in a row.
Jason Ellsmore will again be secretary, and it will also be his fourth year in the post.
Treasurer for the third year in a row will be David Thorpe, who was a member of the club’s inaugural committee 31 years ago.
He is also played first grade for the Ghosts.
High school deputy principal Glyn Trethewy will be the women’s delegate for 2015-16, replacing Peter Lonergan.
Allan Connolly will remain the club’s Sydney Cricket Association and Cricket NSW delegate for another year.
The committee is made up of Karen Barnes, Mark Browne, Lee Mallitt, Morris Iemma, Luke Webb, Mark Richardson and Jeff Mumford.
♦ In on field news, the club says star batsman Ryan Gibson has fitted in well at state training with the NSW Blues.
Gibson started last season in tremendous form for the Ghosts, and although it fell away towards the end of the season he did enough to impress NSW selectors.
If he succeeds in grabbing a Blues spot, the Ghosts will have to find someone else to bat at number three this season.
