These mozzie bites are driving me insane

Don’t know about you, but the worse thing about mosquitoes is how they sneak around in the dark and put the bite on us humans.

Especially on humid evenings when it’s too hot for the type of clothing that could protect from mozzies, such as trackie pants, and even socks.

And then you get this horrible itchiness from their bites that seems to get worse the more you rub it or scratch it.

Of course the best course of action is to avoid scratching or rubbing because the itchiness is caused by your immune system kicking in to defend the body from the effects of the mozzie bite.

I have been thinking about that because in the past two to three weeks there seems to be a plague of mozzies where we live in Campbelltown.

Apparently, though, the mozzie boom is happening across the outer south west region, although how they know these things is anybody’s guess.

One way, I guess, is a large increase in sales of anti insect products.

Now one company, Bite Shield, says it’s “stepping up to support community mosquito control efforts through a special community activation’’.

What this means is that from 1pm today (Friday, November 8t) the company will host a pop-up event near Liverpool where they will give away 500 free mosquito protection packs to “help residents enjoy their outdoor and indoor spaces freely’’.

The four hour giveaway will be opposite the U8F Ultim8 Fitness gym in Alfred Road, Chipping Norton.

“We understand the discomfort and inconvenience that mosquitoes cause,” says Bonnie Sudirwan, the marketing communications manager at Mayo Hardware.

“Bite Shield’s natural, effective products provide a much-needed solution, enabling residents to enjoy their outdoor and indoor spaces without worry, and helping communities protect themselves from mosquito bites.”

Bite Shield’s range includes mosquito coil diffusers, mosquito coils, mosquito sticks, and plug-in mosquito repellers.
