Less than five days after their 6-1 opening round triumph over Perth Glory, Macarthur FC return to Campbelltown Stadium tonight to host Newcastle Jets.
The visitors were first round 1-0 losers to Melbourne City despite playing at home in Newcastle.
On the other hand, the Bulls will be brimming with confidence tonight after their demolition of Glory last Sunday.
The statistics, though, point to a draw as the final result.
These two teams have played each other 10 times since the Bulls entered the A-League competition and share the honours – three wins each and four drawn matches.
From memory even the matches that were won or lost were headed for a draw for most of the 90 minutes.
In fact, six of those 10 games were played here in Campbelltown for two wins apiece and two draws.
Newcastle would certainly be happy with a draw after their round one defeat last weekend.
And as much as I do not like tipping against our mighty Bulls, a draw is the most likely result again tonight.
But more importantly, especially for Macarthur FC, it may provide some answers about last week’s result, which finished at 6-1 but could have been anything if there was more composure shown in front of goal.
One thing we do know will happen is that the Bullpen, the Macarthur FC active supporters group will keep growing, both in numbers and in the noise they make.
Last Sunday they certainly made their presence known down there in the southern end of the field, pictured above.
Indeed the cow bells got a real workout against Perth, and they will certainly be ringing once again tonight against the Jets.
Kick off for tonight’s match at Campbelltown Stadium is 7.35pm.
