State government funding for an initiative called Picton Alive will ensure it will be a big hit.
Wollondilly Business Chamber says it that it has been selected as a recipient of the NSW Government’s uptown grant program for the Picton Alive project.
The aim of Picton Alive is to transform the Wollondilly Shire’s biggest town into a vibrant nightlife destination and enhance its cultural and social landscape.
The Uptown Grant Program, which is administered by the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, provides funding to help develop districts across Greater Sydney into unique going-out destinations.
Funding supports groups of businesses, such as Wollondilly Business Chamber in this case, to collaborate on improving their district’s offerings and boosting consumer engagement.
Picton Alive will bring together local businesses, promote partnership-driven models, and create a coordinated approach to revitalising Picton’s nightlife.
“We are over the moon to receive this funding,” said Pania Gregson, the president of the Wollondilly Business Chamber.
“This grant allows us to create a unique nightlife experience in Picton, promoting our local businesses and celebrating our rich cultural heritage.”
Picton Alive will leverage the upcoming opening of the Wollondilly Performing Arts Centre to attract more visitors and generate a lively atmosphere for both residents and tourists.
The project aims to enhance business collaboration, support local hospitality, and drive economic growth, turning Picton’s main street and the Performing Arts Centre precinct into dynamic evening destinations.
The initiative’s primary objectives include increasing business coordination, supporting partnership-based business models, boosting the marketability of Picton’s nightlife, and enhancing consumer engagement through joint promotions, events, and marketing campaigns.
“This project will breathe new life into our town, giving us the chance to showcase Picton as a vibrant destination where people can enjoy great food, culture, and entertainment,” said project coordinator Tanya Nellestein.
Picton Alive will officially launch at the Wollondilly Illuminate Festival, this Saturday, September 21, showcasing special promotions and exciting new nightlife offerings in Picton.
