Macarthur FC are one of four teams still standing in the 2024 Australia Cup. The Bulls lifted the trophy in 2022 and are in the running to do it a second time.
To reach the final the Bulls will need to defeat top Victorian National Premier Leagues club South Melbourne FC.
The semi final will be played at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park from 6pm on Sunday, September 22.
South Melbourne will face a stern test in Macarthur FC, who have scored seven goals across their three final rounds’ matches.
The other semi final will feature two A-League clubs, Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory.
Whoever goes all the way and wins the Australia Cup will earn qualification into the 2025-26 AFC Champions League Two.
The venue, date and timing for the cup final will be made available as soon as possible following the completion of the semi finals, as Football Australia works with participating clubs to navigate venue availability.
Ironically, Harrison Sawyer, a South Melbourne forward, has signed a two year deal with the Bulls.
The 27-year-old striker is one of two new signings for Macarthur.
Belgian centre-back Dino Arslanagic will also feature in the Bulls squad for the coming A-League season.
Arslanagic brings a wealth of experience, having played for top European clubs such as Royal Antwerp FC and KAA Gent, as well as Saudi Arabian side Al-Riyadh.
With over a decade of professional football under his belt, his expertise and leadership will be invaluable additions to Macarthur’s defensive line.
A two-time Belgian Cup winner, Arslanagic is not just a formidable presence in defence but also has a knack for finding the back of the net, having scored 14 goals throughout his career.
The 31-year-old expressed his enthusiasm about moving to Australia to join the Bulls: “I’m very happy to be a part of this family, this club,’’ he said.
Harrison Sawyer on the other hand has a reputation as a goal poacher, giving the Bulls another dimension in attack.
The Bulls frontline already boasts players such as Valère Germain and Ariath Piol.
“It’s a privilege and an honour, I’ve been trying really hard and trying to perform well in the NPL to get a move like this, so it feels like a reward for a lot of hard work,’’ Harrison said.
