Two Campbelltown schools have received funding to improve their war memorials.

St Gregory’s College Campbelltown will restore and expand their current war memorial and Ingleburn High School will refurbish their existing Anzac memorial cenotaph to create a dignified space of honour.

The $20,000 to the two local high schools was provided under the $1.68 million Saluting their service commemorative grants program.

“These innovative projects funded by the Albanese Government will ensure the stories of veterans from our community are remembered for decades to come,” says Dr Freelander, Federal Member for Macarthur, pictured above at a 2024 Anzac Day service in Campbelltown.

“I’m proud that the government is committed to recognising and commemorating all veterans and their families, both past and present.

“I know our community has a strong desire to recognise local veterans, so I encourage everyone with an idea for a commemorative project to apply.’’

Local monuments and commemorative activities are a vital part of making sure the stories of service and sacrifice of local legends live on for generations, says the minister for veterans affairs Matt Keogh.

“With the 25th anniversary of Interfet coming up in September, and the 80th anniversary of the end of the World War II next year, now is the perfect time to develop innovative projects that pay tribute to all those who have, and continue to serve our nation,” he said.

The ongoing Saluting their service commemorative grants program delivers community grants up to $10,000 and major grants up to $150,000.
