The Wests Group Macarthur Conference rugby league premiership goes into its traditional Easter break this weekend.
Round two played on the weekend produced some interesting results, although it’s way too early to be making predictions about September.
Yet, it’s interesting that just two sides, Camden Rams and Oakdale Workers, are the only ones with a two from two record.
Naturally, they occupy the top two spots on the ladder.
Camden is first, courtesy of a very big win over the Goannas at Warragamba on Saturday.
The Goannas started the season with a gutsy win over the Narellan Jets a week earlier.
But they were completely outclassed by Camden, going down 80-8.
Rams crossed for 15 tries, converting 10 of them, while the Goannas were credited with two meat pies, neither of which was converted.
In other round wo matches, Oakdale Workers inflicted a 40-12 loss on the Magpies at home in Victoria Park Picton.
The Workers have been finals contenders in the past two or three seasons and could be in line for a big 2024 as well.
Campbelltown City Kangaroos were too good for Narellan Jets at Fullwood Reserve, winning 44-12 on Sunday afternoon.
It was the first win of the season for City, which would have put a smile on the face of their new coach, former Wests Tigers prop forward Ava Seumanufeagai.
Down in the Southern Highlands there was a close 32-22 win by Mittagong Lions over reigning premiers Thirlmere Roosters.
A huge crowd was in attendance for the Saturday night match between East Campbelltown Eagles and Campbelltown Collegians at Waminda Oval.
This was a good sign for community rugby league in Macarthur following the pandemic years.
The Eagles, who dominated proceedings and went on to win 48-20, are pictured looking happy in a post match photo.
