Camden mayor Ashleigh Cagney joined Oran Park Probus members when they celebrated the club’s tenth anniversary yesterday.
Cr Cagney congratulated the club on its milestone and paid particular tribute to members who had gone the extra yard and served in an official capacity over the past 10 years.
“Just keep doing your fantastic work – well done,’’ Cr Cagney said.
The mayor, pictured above (centre) told the South West Voice that Camden Council was conscious of the important work community clubs like Probus do.
“We are happy to help community clubs as much as we can,’’ she said.
Probus clubs are for those who are retired or semi retired, so membership is made up of people aged 55 and over.
Oran Park Probus boasts more than 60 members but it’s set to run a drive to boost numbers to around 100.
“We’d especially like to recruit younger members,’’ Tony Law, the current tours officer of Oran Park Probus Club told the Voice.
Yesterday, 55 members squeezed into the Sandown Room at the Oran Park Library to celebrate turning 10.
Twenty members who have been there since 2014 were presented with certificates and pins.
A cake was cut and members and guests were provided with finger food and cool drinks as part of the celebration.
