Teenage boy, 16, pilot of fatal plane crash at Camden

A 16 year old boy was the pilot and sole occupant of the plane that crashed near Camden yesterday afternoon.

The teenager, who died in the tragedy, is yet to be formally identified.

About 3.15pm on Wednesday (January 24), emergency services were called to Brownlow Hill Loop Road, Brownlow Hill, following reports a light plane had crashed.

A member of the public was the first person to spot the crash.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command attended the scene, along with NSW Ambulance, and Fire and Rescue NSW.

Police established a crime scene which is being forensically examined.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been notified and commenced an investigation into the circumstance surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

A critical incident investigation has been launched after a fatal motorcycle crash just after midnight.

About 12:10am an officer from Liverpool Police Area Command was patrolling the intersection of Maxwell Avenue and Elizabeth Drive, Mt Pritchard, when they saw a motorcycle ride through a red light.

Police activated lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the rider; however, the rider crossed to the wrong side of the road and no pursuit was called.

A short time later, the motorcycle hit a truck at the intersection of Dartford Street and Horton Street, Mt Pritchard.

NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived but the 38-year-old man died at the scene.

A crime scene was established and is being examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

A critical incident team from Bankstown Police Area Command will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the crash.

The investigation will be subject to an independent review, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
