Families in Gledswood Hills and Gregory Hills will soon be able to send their children to a public high school.
A new public high school will be built at Gregory Hills Drive in Gledswood Hills – less than a five minute drive from the two local primary schools, Gregory Hills Public School and Gledswood Hills Public School.
The new high school will initially cater for up to 1,000 students, when it opens on the first day of term one in 2027.
The school site is being master planned to expand the school’s capacity in the future to 2,000 students.
Progress is also being made on the new permanent Gregory Hills Public School – with construction of the hall, library and classrooms taking shape.
These projects come in addition to new public high schools recently announced by the Minns Labor government at Leppington and Edmondson Park, and major school upgrades at Leppington Public School, Austral Public School, Greenway Park Public School, and Dalmeny Public School.
“It is wonderful to confirm the site of this new high school for Gregory and Gledswood Hills,’’ says NSW education minister Prue Car.
“This new school will mean local families will have a fantastic public high school option that is close to home.
“The Liberals and the Nationals left the families of Glesdwood Hills and Gregory Hills without a local high school, and I am delighted to say we are going to deliver this in our first term of government.
“Camden is experiencing some of the most rapid population growth in all of Australia, and as Minister for Western Sydney I know how vital it is to deliver schools to these communities,’’ Ms Car said.
The Camden local government area is one of the fastest growing in the outer South West Sydney region. Its population grew from 78,218 in 2016 to 119,325 in 2021.
“The community of Gledswood Hills and Gregory Hills have long been asking for a public high school for their kids, so the announcement of this local site, located less than a five minute drive from Gregory Hills Public School and Gledswood Hills Public School is a win for our local families,’’ says the Member for Camden Sally Quinnell, pictured above during an end of year school presentation.
