Another brand new playground is about to open as Campbelltown’s massive parks and reserves revitalisation program gathers pace.

Ingleburn Reserve, which is located in Picnic Grove, (off Bensley Road), will be officially opened on Friday, July 10 between 11am and 1pm.

The celebration for the official opening will be a fun, family friendly event that will include a free barbecue, face painting and activities for kids.

The new playground at Ingleburn Reserve is one of nine being replaced as part of the 2014-2015 Renew-Connect-Revitalise city improvement program.

Works at Hyacinth Reserve in Macquarie Fields have been completed, with Ingleburn Reserve and Manooka Reserve in Bradbury due for completion during the school holidays and a further six new playgrounds to be completed in Glen Alpine, Eschol Park, Raby (two locations), Eagle Vale and Kentlyn over the next two months.

More than $6.1 million will be allocated to the revitalisation of parks and playgrounds over the next 10 years.

As part of the Renew-Connect-Revitalise program, works across the city will include:
·         the replacement of damaged and aging equipment in playgrounds,

·         the provision of additional seating and barbecue areas,

·         improvements to park amenities, landscaping and lighting.

As part of the project, the council ran a survey of residents about the revitalisation of a number of playgrounds across the local government area.

“We would like to thank everyone who participated in our recent survey,’’ a council spokesman said.

“Your feedback played an important role in helping us to decide what equipment to install in each location. “While not all requests could be catered for, your ideas helped shape the outcome for each park.’’
