Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor says he is pleased to once again invite hard working local community groups to apply for a volunteer grant.
Mr Taylor said grants between $1,000 and $5,000 are available – to buy small equipment for volunteers, for reimbursing volunteer fuel, transport or training costs, or to support promotional activities.
“This program is always very popular in Hume,” Mr Taylor said.
“Volunteering plays such an important role in this region. It brings people together and makes our local communities better places to live.
“To be eligible under this round, applicants must be not-for-profit and have a minimum of 40 percent of volunteers working for the organisation.
“I strongly encourage all eligible groups to apply or to get in touch with my office if you have any questions.”
Expressions of interest close at 5pm on Friday, September 1. Successful groups will then be invited to submit a full application assessed by the Department of Social Services.

Community organisations are encouraged to apply for funding under the NSW Government’s infrastructure grants program, which opened on August 1.
The $12.5 million program will welcome applications for arts, sports, community infrastructure and disaster preparedness projects to build or upgrade facilities.
There are four funding categories:
• Arts and culture: $50,000 to $200,000 available per project;
• Community infrastructure: $50,000 to $250,000 available per project;
• Disaster readiness: $50,000 to $200,000 available per project
• Sport and recreation: $50,000 to $300,000 available per project.
Funding under the program is made possible by Clubgrants category 3, which re-invests profits from registered clubs’ gaming machines into community projects.
Applications are assessed by independent expert panel administered through the NSW Office of Responsible Gambling.
“This program provides a great opportunity for development within the Campbelltown community. I encourage anyone who is eligible to throw their hat in the ring and apply,” says state MP Greg Warren.
