Some of Australia’s and New Zealand’s greatest BMX riders will descend onto the Kirkham Park BMX facility at Elderslie for a special weekend of racing next month.
Macarthur BMX Club will host the third and fourth round of the 2023 AusCycling BMX Racing National Series on Saturday and Sunday, July 8-9.
The weekend event, which will be free to attend for spectators, will feature more than 700 talented riders from every state and territory of Australia, as well as a number of Kiwi riders.
Some of the top riders taking part over the weekend include Queensland’s Teya Rufus and Thomas Tucker, Victoria’s Bella May and Max Carins, and South Australia’s Imogen Healy.
AusCycling BMX sport manager, Luke Madill, encouraged locals to check out the racing action.
“The AusCycling BMX Racing National Series is one of the major events on our calendar, and the upcoming rounds of the National Series in Macarthur will attract several hundred riders to the area,” he said.
“With the 2023 AusCycling National Championship and UCI World Championship also on the horizon, the event will feature many of Australia’s top BMX racers, and I’d expect the quality of racing to be nothing short of spectacular.”
Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said it would be a great event for Camden’s premier BMX facility.
“It’s fantastic for us to be able to draw an event of this magnitude to our world class BMX facility at Kirkham Park,” she said.
“I urge everyone to pop down and check out the racing on offer. It should be incredibly exciting!”
