The 2023 Macarthur Conference rugby league premiership has produced another round of upsets to continue what has been one of the most exciting seasons in years.
East Campbelltown Eagles got the ball rolling in round eight when they returned from The Oaks with a big 40-10 victory over the Tigers on Sunday, pictured above.
Campbelltown Collegians, who up until last weekend loomed as title contenders, suffered their worst defeat of the season, a 68-10 mauling at the hands of the Camden Rams.
Mittagong Lions and the Thirlmere Roosters couldn’t be separated after 80 minutes and ended up with a point each from the 22-22 draw, the second of the season.
Narellan Jets continued their improvement when they kept Picton Magpies scoreless in a 26-0 victory.
Campbelltown City Kangaroos, who will enjoy a bye this weekend, defeated South West Goannas 32-18 at Fullwood Reserve.
The Goannas are still looking for their first win of the season, which surely is just a matter of time in this topsy-turvy competition.
Mittagong Lions are still on top of the ladder with 15 points, two more than second placed Camden Rams as the premiership approaches the halfway mark.
Roosters and Tigers are on 11 points, while Oakdale Workers are in fifth spot with 10 points.
