A week after promising a new high school to service suburbs such as Austral, Leppington, Denham Court, Gregory Hills and Gledswood Hills, the State Government has revealed where another promised high school will be built.
The new Edmondson Park high school will be located on Buchan Way in Edmondson Park, not far from the railway station.
The government says that following confirmation of the site, the NSW Department of Education will now progress planning and designing the new high school, to be co-located next to the existing Edmondson Park Public School.
It will include fit-for-purpose learning spaces and core facilities to meet enrolment demand and support the growing population in the area.
Minister for education and early learning Sarah Mitchell said that she was pleased to be able to confirm the location for the new high school.
“We are committed to ensuring the best opportunity for local families and following a process to determine the location of the school, we are now able to confirm it will be constructed next to the newly opened Edmondson Park Public School,” Ms Mitchell said.
Liberal candidate for Leppington Therese Fedeli, pictured above (right) with the minister, has also welcomed the confirmation of the location of the proposed high school, which will be delivered if the current government wins the March 25 election.
“It’s terrific news for families now there’s certainty on where the new high school will be located,” Ms Fedeli said.
“New infrastructure like this is only possible because the NSW Liberals have a long-term plan to keep NSW moving forward and investing in education is a key part of that.’’
Now that the Liberals have lost in NSW, what will now happen with the High School since the article states that its construction was conditional upon them winning?
Good question
