The Macarthur Anglican community is this morning coming to grips with the tragic death of a 14 year old boy who was hit by a bus outside the Cobbitty high school yesterday afternoon.
Today police have announced that a woman has been charged over the fatal bus incident and was due to appear in court some time today.
Emergency services were called to Cobbitty Road, Cobbitty, just before 3pm (Wednesday, February 15) and found a 14-year-old boy critically injured outside the school, pictured above.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the boy at the scene before taking him to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
Tragically, the boy died a short time later.
The bus driver, a 54-year-old woman, was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from Camden Police Area Command and the Crash Investigation Unit are in charge of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Following inquiries, investigators arrested a woman at Liverpool Hospital about 8.30pm last night.
She was taken to Liverpool Police Station, where she was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive in a manner dangerous, and negligent driving (occasioning death).
The woman was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Thursday, February 16).
Her licence was also suspended.
The investigation is still continuing, including preparing a report for the Coroner’s office.
