When the Wollondilly beach bus hits the road in January 2023 it will mark a decade of this great summer service.

Wollondilly Shire Council, Picton Buslines and SIMEC Mining have joined forces to provide this free service in the past nine years.

The beach bus offers Wollondilly residents of all ages free travel to North Wollongong Beach from 12 stops across the Shire once a week.

Upon arriving at the coast, Wollongong City Council Lifeguards hop on the buses to update everyone on the current surf conditions and beach safety.

“We are thankful for the ongoing partnerships which have kept this popular service going for a decade, giving people of all ages the opportunity to access the beaches,’’ says Wollondilly Mayor Matt Gould.

“We hope we can continue this service for many more years.’’

This January, two buses will travel on separate routes, one leaving from Bargo and the other one from Warragamba.

The 2023 beach bus service will run on January 10, 17 and 24.
