Despite repeated calls from their local member of parliament, residents of Macarthur Heights still do not have a bus service.

Campbelltown MP Greg Warren has called for a service for years, without result.

Recently Campbelltown Council also decided to write to the minister asking for such a service.

Mr Warren, who joined Macarthur Heights residents at one of their community events a few weeks (pictured) has now tabled a notice motion in the NSW parliament calling on the government to act and explain its repeated refusal to establish a bus service.

“I have written to various transport ministers urging them to establish a bus service in the Macarthur Heights estate,” Mr Warren said.

“Every single one of those requests has been refused and without an adequate explanation.

“Some residents on the far side of the estate are forced to walk close to two kilometres to the nearest public transport access point at Macarthur train station.

“It is simply not good enough and residents in Macarthur Heights deserve much, much better,’’ he said.

“This is another case of the NSW Government pushing ahead with housing developments without providing the adequate services and infrastructure.

“The NSW Government should be focused on creating communities, not just building houses.

“Residents in Macarthur Heights deserve an explanation.’’

Mr Warren’s notice of motion read:

[Legislative Assembly] acknowledges the passionate, close-knit and growing community in Macarthur Heights;

Notes the NSW Government’s repeated refusal to establish a bus service in the ever-growing estate;

Calls on the NSW Government to explain why it has neglected the public transport needs of Macarthur Heights residents for so long;

The development of Macarthur Heights was overseen by Landcom – the NSW Government’s land and property development organisation.
