Camden’s wealth of history will be on display for the community to enjoy as we celebrate History Week 2022 starting this Friday.
The annual event will see Camden Libraries host an online photographic exhibition titled “Hands-on History – Building Camden’s Town” through to Sunday, September 11.
Camden Library will also have a photographic display in place and a themed children’s Storytime program to take place next Monday, September 6.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said History Week celebrations gave residents the chance to learn more about the area they live in.
“We are lucky enough to be living in an area with a great historical significance and it is important we respect and celebrate it,” Cr Fedeli said.
“History week is a great opportunity to look back on how Camden came about and what is in our backyard.
“I encourage the community to check out the online photo exhibition and the rest of our History Week celebrations.”

In other Camden news, council is developing an off-road bike skills track for young people in Spring Farm.
The $20,000 track will be developed for beginners to learn and practice their skills.
Council says a number of unapproved tracks were created by mountain bike enthusiasts across the Camden area.
“Council is focused on providing its residents with opportunities to live, work and play close to home.
“While residents creating their own bike tracks are at times unsafe, council has the ability to look at options to make a safe track for the whole community to enjoy.
“Mountain biking is also an Olympic sport and it would be fantastic to one day have a local athlete representing Australia in the future.’’
The track will be located at Springs Lake off Burrell Road in Spring Farm as a pilot space for young people to develop their skills in a natural environment.
