The 2021 National Simultaneous Storytime will be literally out of this world.

Anyone who pops down the On Q space in Lithgow Street, Campbelltown for this year’s Storytime on May 19 will be able to see and hear an astronaut from the International Space Station.

NASA astronaut Shannon Walker, pictured above, will be beamed to the heart of the Campbelltown city centre around 11am and she will read Phillip Bunting’s Give Me Some Space – naturally.

Dr Walker’s reading all the way from the International Space Station will be broadcast on a big screen within the On Q space.

The event is being held during library and information week and people can also visit the On Q pop-up library which will be at the On Q space on May 19 and 20 from 10am to 1pm.

There will also be face painting and an astronaut children’s entertainer.

“National simultaneous storytime is always popular and this year’s unique event will be extra special, straight from the International Space Station,” says mayor George Brticevic.

“The changes to the streetscape as part of the On Q project are about making the area a welcoming place where we can hold events such as this to bring people into the CBD area,” he said.

“Have a chat to our friendly library team while you’re there and find out about all the great services and programs our libraries have to offer.”

National simultaneous storytime events will also be held at HJ Daley Library, Glenquarie Library, Eagle Vale Library and Greg Percival Library, Ingleburn.

But if you want an out of this world experience on Wednesday, May 19, best to head down to the big screen on Lithgow Street.
