An investigation is under way after a public place shooting at Bradbury in the early hours of Monday which may have been a case of mistaken identity.
Police say they responded after receiving reports a shot had been fired into the front of a home on Taber Place.
A 47-year-old female occupant was in her lounge room when she heard a loud noise from outside the front of the home at about 1.20am.
When the woman woke in the morning, she found a hole in the metal screen door at the front entrance of the home, and damage to the wooden door immediately behind it.
Both the woman and a 13-year-old girl who was also in the home at the time, were not injured.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, officers seized a projectile from inside the home.
As investigations continue, detectives believe that although the incident was a targeted attack, it was a case of mistaken identity.

A man has died after two trucks crashed on this morning on the M7, near the Camden Walley Way off-ramp at Prestons.
Police say the driver of a Mitsubishi table-top truck laden with gas cylinders was trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.
The driver of a Volvo prime mover, a 30-year-old man, was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.

A man has been charged after a motorcyclist was hospitalised in a critical condition following a crash in the Southern Highlands yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the Hume Highway near Church Avenue at Alpine, near Mittagong, after reports a Volkswagen Golf station wagon and Honda motorcycle had collided
The rider, a 44-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital to undergo emergency surgery. He is expected to be transferred to Royal North Hospital and remains in a critical but stable condition.
The driver, a 45-year-old man, was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
