Thanks to the establishment of Macarthur FC, local football fans now get an opportunity to watch the best of the best in Australia.
Bulls head coach, Ante Milicic, speaking yesterday to the media ahead of the club’s crunch match with Sydney FC tonight at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, said this was something this region did not have before.
“What you’re getting now, right here in Campbelltown, are the best players, the best teams in Australia performing right here when they play Macarthur FC,’’ Milicic said.
“And now that we have opened our merchandise store and there is some excitement building here in this region, it is a good time to get behind us.’’
Several times Milicic said hosting the current two time champions would be a tough assignment.
“They are a very good team, so it will be a difficult match,’’ he said
“We respect them, but we are worrying about our game.’’
Milicic also confirmed the worst kept secret in the A-League, that Macarthur FC tried to sign Sydney FC star Milos Ninkovic.
“We had coffee but unfortunately he decided to stay at Sydney FC, and I respect that,’’ Milicic said.
The coach had no hesitation in nominating the Serbian playmaker as the danger man for the Bulls.
But again he stressed his emphasis every game was on his own team’s performance.
“Our job at home is to show our quality, play to our potential and give a good account of ourselves.
“It’s important to be competitive in local derbies and we want to do everything we can to get something from the game,’’ Milicic said.
While some showers are forecast for Campbelltown today, it should be dry by the time the game kicks off at 7.10pm.
