It’s a letter to Santa like no other, but Anoulack Chanthivong has no regrets.
In fact the Labor MP for Macquarie Fields is still so keen, this year he wants to include in his wish list things requested by his constituents.
So Mr Chanthivong is spreading the word across his electorate about the 2020 wish list he will be sending to Santa.
“My annual Christmas wish list has become a tradition and this year I’m inviting residents to have a say on what they consider the most important issues in the electorate,” he says.
Since first elected to parliament in 2015, Mr Chanthivong has penned a letter to Santa each year requesting what he has always described as a “fair share’’ for the Macquarie Fields electorate.
“I write to Santa every year in the hope that he will deliver the goods for our community because the Liberal Government has consistently ignored and short changed our local area,” he said.
“Whether it’s blatant overdevelopment, a new toll on an old road, selling off school land or no lift for Macquarie Fields Station, our community is fed up with the Liberal Government’s inaction and unfairness.”
Mr Chanthivong said this year he was distributing a flyer to the electorate, calling on constituents to nominate the issues most important to them or include their own suggestions.
“I believe people will want to see Scrap the M5 East Toll at the top of this year’s wish list, given the overwhelming response to my recent petition,’’ he said.
“I look forward to hearing from my community and continuing the fight for our fair share.”
Constituents are encouraged to complete the flyer and return it to his electorate electorate office in Ingleburn or have their say at www.letsbackanoulack.com by Friday, November 13.
