A foster carer in Wollondilly Shire has been charged with indecent and sexual assault of two young girls in his care.
The 50-year-old man was arrested at home on Saturday and taken to Penrith Police Station to be charged.
Police will allege in court that the man indecently and sexually assaulted the girls – then aged from 11 and 13 – on multiple occasions between 2017 and 2018 while they were in his care.
The man was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today.
In June 2019, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a man had allegedly indecently and sexually assaulted children in his care in 2017 and 2018.
The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.

In other police news, two men have lost their driving licences over street racing.
About 8.40pm on Friday police saw a white Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI and white Volkswagen Golf travelling side by side, allegedly reaching speeds between 160km/h–180km/h in a 110km/h zone of the Hume Motorway at Ingleburn.
Both vehicles were stopped shortly after by police.
The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 33-year-old man from Regents Park, was issued a field court attendance notice for exceeding the speed limit (over 45km/h), driving in a dangerous manner, and taking part in a street race.
The 19-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, a man from St Andrews, was also issued a field court attendance notice for organising and promoting a race between vehicles and exceeding the speed limit while being being a P2 driver.
Both men had their licences suspended and will appear in Campbelltown Local Court on July 15.

At 1pm on Saturday, a black Audi A5 sedan was checked travelling at 116km/h in a 60km/h zone on Henderson Road at Ingleburn.
Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the 20-year-old P-plate driver.
Further inquiries revealed the man had been issued a penalty notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 20km/h in August 2019. The man was issued an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit (over 45km/h) and had his licence suspended for six months.
