Man extradited from Victoria over sexual assault near Minto station

A 26 year old man will appear in court today charged with an outstanding warrant after being extradited from Victoria over a sexual assault that took place near Minto railway station earlier this month.

The man was arrested on a NSW warrant at Dandenong in Melbourne’s south-east on Tuesday.

He appeared at Dandenong Local Court, where NSW Police Force detectives applied for and were granted his extradition to NSW.

The man was escorted to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault – sexually touching another person and two counts of aggravated sexually assault a person with cognitive impairment.

He is due to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court today.

Police allege that a 29-year-old woman was sexually assaulted near Minto Railway Station on Saturday, April 4.

Detectives from Campbelltown City Police Area Command have been investigating the incident.

Investigations have commenced after a cyclist was hit by a car in the Southern Highlands yesterday.

About 4.40pm a 62-year-old man was riding his pushbike along the Illawarra Highway, Robertson, heading west towards Moss Vale.

A Peugeot, being driven by an 85-year-old man was also heading west when the two collided.

The rider suffered critical injuries and was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Inquiries are continuing by officers from The Hume Police District who would like to speak with anyone who may have information that can assist them.
