Camden’s first synthetic football field is a step closer to reality after council accepted a tender for the construction of the facility this week.

Greenplay Australia Pty Ltd will transform Nott Oval in Narellan into a FIFA accredited synthetic football facility with works expected to be completed late this year.

When complete it will be the second synthetic football field in the Macarthur region: Campbelltown officially unveiled Lynwood Park’s artificial surface in January 2016. The all weather surface is home to the Macarthur Rams.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said she looked forward to seeing the synthetic football field become the latest state-of-the-art sporting facility in the area.

“Council is committed to providing residents with the highest quality sporting facilities and this is another project that will be used by a range of football clubs and the wider community,” Cr Fedeli said.

“The Macarthur area is home to over 10,000 local football players and transforming Nott Oval from a turf to synthetic field will allow our players the chance to practice and refine their skills all year round.

“Council is also considering different ways to help the local economy during a tough period with one of them being ensuring we continue our large capital works program.

“I would like to thank both the Federal and State governments for their funding of $2.8 million to go towards this facility as part of the Western Parkland Liveability Fund.”

In other Camden news, a 20-year planning vision the area has been set after council formally adopted its Local Strategic Planning Statement this week.

The plan outlines the characteristics which shape the area’s local identity and directs how future growth and change will be managed.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said Camden has a massive role to play in Greater Sydney’s future and the plan was in line to continue to keep the area thriving.

“People look at this area and see the opportunity to buy or build their dream home, spend time at state-of-the-art facilities, send their children to new and exciting schools and turn their passion into their business,” Cr Fedeli said.

“The plan has pin-pointed 129 actions to be delivered in the short and medium term across four key themes including infrastructure and collaboration, liveability, productivity and sustainability.

Here’s cheers to Camden’s 20 year vision.

“This information has all been put together after months of extensive community engagement and we will now be able to set in motion the community’s 20-year planning vision for Camden.

“I am proud of the Camden we are creating, and I look forward to watching our vision continue to unfold while respecting our unique heritage.”
