An innovative approach to health, education and research in Liverpool has won a major a Greater Sydney Planning awards.
The Liverpool Innovation Precinct, nominated by the Western Sydney Business Chamber, won the Planning for Jobs and Skills Award for its forward thinking approach to jobs in the Western City.
“The Liverpool Innovation Precinct exemplifies success in a challenging environment,’’ said the judging panel.
“This collaboration is no small feat and the panel acknowledges the concerted efforts made to ensure coordination, effective governance and buy in from all parties in the Precinct.
“The steering committee’s vision for a health oriented curriculum stream in schools demonstrates a forward thinking approach that clearly acknowledges the economic significance of health, education and research in the future of the Western Parkland City.
These are the third annual Greater Sydney Planning Awards, hosted by the Greater Sydney Commission.
Campbelltown City Council is a current gold sponsor of the awards.
The awards, presented by Greater Sydney Commission Chief Commissioner Lucy Turnbull, cover seven categories across community collaboration, infrastructure and jobs, sustainability, and innovation in planning.
Ms Turnbull said at the presentation last week: “Recognising and celebrating excellence in planning is an important way of advocating for the future of our metropolis.
“Our winning plans and projects are helping provide Greater Sydney with the great places, critical services and infrastructure that it deserves.”
This year, the Commission received nominations from local government, community groups, industry, higher education institutions and state government agencies.
