Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad have charged a former teacher with the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy at a local high school.
The 26-year-old man was arrested and charged at Campbelltown Police Station earlier today.
The man was charged with aggravated sexual assault of someone under the age of 16 years, grooming a child for unlawful sexual activity and possessing child abuse material.
Police will allege that the man groomed the boy and sexually assaulted him on numerous occasions between 2018 and 2019.
He was refused bail to appear Campbelltown Local Court today.
Following the arrest, investigators executed a search warrant at a storage facility in Appin.
Detectives located and seized several items relevant to the investigation, including paintings. These items will undergo forensic examination.
The man’s employment as a teacher has been terminated.

A man has died in a fatal motor vehicle incident this morning.
About 9.30am emergency services were called to Binalong Road, Belimbla Park, located between The Oaks and Oakdale.
A 65-year-old man was found deceased at the scene, trapped in between a Kia Sportage and a tree.
The circumstances of the incident are still under investigation, however inquiries suggest the incident was misadventure.

A woman has been charged after a pedestrian died in hospital, following a crash at Narellan last month.
An 81-year-old Narellan woman was walking across Camden Valley Way, Narellan on May 9 when she was struck by a car driving east.
The driver, a 60-year-old woman from Carnes Hill, stopped and rendered assistance to the pedestrian, assisted by other members of the public.
Officers from Camden Police Area Command established a crime scene and with the assistance of the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The older woman was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition where she later died.
The driver was uninjured but was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
The driver attended Liverpool Police Station yesterday and was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.
Her driver’s licence was also suspended.
She was granted conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on July 8.
