Help bring joy to those less fortunate this festive season by donating to the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal, which has been putting the ‘merry’ back into Christmas for local families doing it tough for more than a decade.
The appeal calls for donations of new toys and/or non-perishable food items to be placed in a special box located in the main foyer of Council’s Civic Centre building, on the corner of Queen and Broughton Streets.
All of Campbelltown City Council’s library branches will also be acting as collection points for the appeal.
Second hand or wrapped items are unable to be accepted.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said the appeal was an annual tradition that helped those in need at this special time of year.
“For some members of our community, Christmas can be a particularly difficult and lonely time, with no presents under the tree, no special lunch and no network of family or friends to celebrate with,” Cr Lake said.
“The Mayor’s Christmas Appeal helps to give those in need something special to celebrate, and I encourage Campbelltown residents to donate generously to this worthy cause and demonstrate once again our strong sense of community spirit.
“Together, let’s support local families experiencing hardship by donating new toys or non-perishable food items so that they can enjoy all of the trimmings and traditions that Christmas brings,” Cr Lake said.
Donations can be made up until 4.30pm on Friday, December 19.
All donated items will go to the Macarthur Combined Churches’ Christmas lunch, held in the Civic Hall on Christmas Day.
