Campbelltown City Council’s new mobile education van aims to be a silver bullet in the fight to reduce household waste.
“Silver Bullet’’ is the nickname the silver custom built van has acquired since arriving at council recently.
Council will officially launch the mobile education van during National Organics Week at two locations later this month.
The van, which will be used to deliver waste education initiatives across the Campbelltown local government area, was created through a project funded by the Waste Less, Recycle More program of the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA).
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said the Silver Bullet presented a unique opportunity to deliver engaging and interactive content to the public at council events, as well as a younger audience during school visits.
“The van was chosen for its unique and eye catching appearance, and customised with TVs and iPads to provide an interactive educational experience,” Cr Brticevic said.
It was also designed with sustainability in mind, with all its operations powered entirely by an in-built solar panel.
Interchangeable panels on its sides and interior can also be used to display static content, allowing for flexibility.

National Organic Week activities will be held next Tuesday, September 11 at HJ Daley Library, and Friday, September 14 at Bunbury Curran Park.
Council will host free introductory workshops on worm farming, composting and organic gardening between 10am and noon each day.
Attendees can also collect a free bag of Garden to Garden soil improver, which is made from the organics collected from the green lid bins of Campbelltown residents.
Residents who can’t make it to the workshops can also collect their free bag of soil improver from the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living during September 10-15.
